Magin Mountain Art Gallery

The works of all these important artists, which are also depicted on our wine labels, are gathered at the art gallery «Magic Mountain». Their number has increased through the years and the public can visit and admire the works of acclaimed Greek and foreign painters and sculptors.

The winery, with its special architecture, is built inside the main vineyard. The building is fully adjusted to the natural environment and one can observe from it all the tasks taking place in the vineyards. Its state-of-the-art equipment guarantees the production of wine of the highest quality. In their words "We chose the local community Agora in the Prefecture of Drama to establish our innovative and modern winery. It was not a random choice, as we took into consideration all the necessary elements so as the production processing to take place as near the harvest location as possible. This way, our people will be able to produce fine wines and store them in ideal conditions, before they reach the consumers. Our vineyards, located in one of the most renowned and promising vine regions of east Macedonia, as well as Greece in general, are established among the local communities of Agora, Pigadia and Andriani, occupying approximately 80 hectares. 65 hectares of those are private vineyards, while there are about 15 hectares belonging to company associates. The main vineyard, which is situated perimetrically from the Winery Château Nico Lazaridi, occupies 35 hectares."

The plants occupy approximately 6.500 sq.m. and form a unified complex of buildings which includes vinification, production, bottling and storage areas, cellars for wine aging, hall for wine tasting and seminars, and finally the art gallery “The Magic Mountain”, which can be used as a multi-purpose room. The winery’s architectural design, a project inspired by the local architect Yiannis Matsinis, depicts a “swallow tale”. It creates an internal patio, according to the traditional agricultural premises, offering to both employees and visitors a view of the surroundings. The architect envisioned the building as a continuation of the skyline and landscape, from the tower’s observation post visitors can have a panoramic view of the vineyards and the wider area.

The most renowned brand name of the NICO LAZARIDI Winery is the white and red wine bearing the same name: Château Nico Lazaridi, while the Rosé Nico Lazaridi complements the family. The wine range of Château Nico Lazaridi also includes the single-variety wine Merlot Nico Lazaridi, while the wine families of Magic Mountain and Perpetuus are products of special aging. Furthermore, the company vinifies the Melissourgos wine which belongs to the category of naturally sweet wines, and recently the white semi-sparkling wine Solitaire. Here, at the Winery Château Nico Lazaridi all wines are labeled as Protected Geographical Indication Drama and Agora. NICO LAZARIDI vineyards in the Prefecture of Drama are surrounded by mount Falakro from the North, mount Menikio from the West, while at the north-east rises mount Pangeon – our Magic Mountain – which name is forever related to the worship of Dionysus, the Greek god of the grape harvest and winemaking.

The cultivated varieties are the following:

a) White varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Ugni Blanc (Trebbiano), Chardonnay, Assyrtiko, Malagousia

b) Red varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Rouge, Sangiovese, Xinomavro, Mavroudi

In its 30 years of experience in the wine field the company has tried various techniques concerning planting density, and has experimented, and still is, on a large number of varieties. Its main target has always been the long-term application of the best cultivation techniques, as well as the vineyard enrichment with varieties successfully adapted to the region’s terroir. The company’s founder, Nicos Lazaridis, wanted to create a modern product, able to represent Greece and to highlight the dynamic of modern art which has blossomed in our country the last 30 years. His personal interest on visual arts is reflected in the Winery, where he introduces to the public contemporary Greek and foreign artists.
